What is the best  ventilation to use on your roof.

The best ventilation would be vent ridge, the vent ridge does not allow for surplus heat to stand in your attic area such as box vents would do, if you have a vaulted ceiling I would highly recommend ridge vents so that the heat would escape as it reached the top of your roof line.

The next best vent would be the electric vents, this vent is climate controlled however the motors tend to require changing after so long and that could be a problem trying to find a motor for it.

The next best vent would be the turbine vent or whirly bird vent, this vent moves air from the roof somewhat faster than the box vents would, however the turbine vent also allows surplus air in the attic.

Box vents are the most common of the vents, the shingle companies say we have to have so much ventilation per sq. ft and most people put these vents in because its cheaper and it meets the shingle manufacture specs.
